Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem - Review
This movie is not AvP2. This movie is not a sequel. This is a stand-alone movie in the Aliens and Predator universe. Much like how Predator 2 had no ties to the first Predator movie. Oh yeah, and this movie was great.

The first half was kind of slow, but the second half was the kind of oh shit horror movie action one would want from this title. Without giving too much away-although it won't hurt because the selling point is the action, not the plot-the basic premise of this movie is that an Alien crashes on Earth, and a Predator comes to kill it. But of course the Alien reproduces like crazy. And it happens in a fairly small town. But like I said, the plot doesn't really matter much.

I enjoyed the first AvP movie, but only rated it a 3 on the NetFlix scale ("I like it"). This one I would give a 4 or 5 to. I'm not sure if it's really an "I love it" movie, but it really delivered on what it was meant to be. I've loved the Predator ever since I saw the poster at ShopKo as a child that featured a full length view of him with little flags pointing to and describing each piece of his arsenal. And each piece was used in this movie.

One complaint with the movie is that they felt the need to throw in a bunch of overdone cliche plot points, such as the uncool kid who wants to make it with the popular girl, and his estranged brother who has returned home after serving a 3 year prison sentence and wants to be good. Of course, their parents just seem to be missing in the entire film, and neither seems concerned about parents, which implies that the high school kid was living by himself... Yeah, right. Cliche plot points aside, some of them didn't end in quite the typical fashion, which was very satisfying.

The ending was a bit odd as well. Basically the movie ended, and then they tacked on one more scene, whose intention appeared to be to setup a sequel. However the scene was far too cryptic to really mean anything, and will probably be easily forgotten.

Bottom line: If you like SciFi/Horror movies then you will not want to miss this film.

Feeling: satisfied

The first half was kind of slow
See, I tried to watch AVP:R a few weeks back. The beginning is what kept me from watching. Now I'm gonna re-rent it and watch the REST b/c of this (all too short) review!!

such as the uncool kid who wants to make it with the popular girl,

Re: The first half was kind of slow
I started watching it Friday night, because Angela said she wouldn't be home until 10:00, and she was afraid it'd be too gory for her. But she got home at 8:30, at the halfway point of the movie, so I turned it off. I almost didn't finish watching it, but I'm glad I did. So many dead people.

This movie totally made up for the lame love interest angle in a very, very good way.

Transformers, on the other hand, did not. Not to mention that having him tell her that she's "more than meets the eye" was just painful.
